Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the finance function across 11 companies, including full accounting to Annual Financial Statements.
- Lead the annual external audit process for all group entities.
- Manage and review monthly management accounts, journals, cashbooks, and general ledgers.
- Oversee group payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Manage company cashflows, business analytics, and financial planning.
- Ensure timely submission of statutory returns and reporting to regulators (NCR, FSCA, FIC).
- Oversee SARS compliance — including Income Tax, Provisional Tax, VAT, and DWT returns.
- Manage CIPC compliance — including annual returns, beneficial ownership submissions, and registered changes.
- Liaise with commercial banks on funding, covenants, and FICA reviews.
- Collaborate with HR on BEE certification and Stats SA submissions.
- Oversee collections, loan disbursements, insurance reporting, and related operational finance processes.
- Approve fund requests, refunds, and staff loans.
- Ensure accuracy of loan management system reporting and branch financial support.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and internal controls to enhance efficiency and reduce manual processes.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a finance team of 17 employees, including performance reviews, training, and leave planning.
- Provide financial insight and support for special projects and ad hoc internal or external requests.
Requirements
- Chartered Accountant (SA) qualification.
- BCom Honours or equivalent degree/diploma.
- Minimum of 5 years’ post-articles experience in a group finance or similar environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook).
- Experience with Sage Intacct Accounting and Pastel Payroll & HR 2024.
- Strong experience in group consolidations and multi-entity reporting.
- Solid understanding of the National Credit Act and Financial and Intermediary Services Act.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation (Companies Act, Income Tax Act, VAT Act).
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams effectively.
- Strong business acumen, analytical ability, and attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to perform under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
