Company and Job Description: An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join a dynamic Shared Services team based in Springs. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate, efficient, and compliant processing of payroll , ensuring employees are paid correctly, on time, and in line with company policies and SARS legislation. Key Responsibilities: Administer and process large-volume payrolls efficiently and accurately. Validate, check, and reconcile all payroll and leave inputs prior to finalisation. Oversee payroll controls, variance checks, and interim payments. Provide guidance to Payroll Clerks and business units on new payroll processes and forms. Manage and validate terminations, resignations, and final pay-outs. Handle and resolve second-line payroll enquiries within SLA timeframes. Maintain payroll filing systems and manage payslip distribution. Perform month-end reconciliations and compile detailed payroll reports for business units. Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements including PAYE, UIF, SDL, and BCEA. Recommend and test process improvements and system updates in collaboration with ICT. Participate in payroll-related projects and initiatives. Deliver exceptional internal customer service and maintain strong working relationships. Job Experience and Skills Required: Matric Certificate with Maths and Accounting (Maths Literacy not sufficient). At least 8 years experience in Payroll Administration. Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills. Experience managing payrolls with 1,500 employees. Experience with JDE and Educos Payroll Systems. Apply now!

Job Description

My client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Administrator to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing payroll processes and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in payroll administration. If you have strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, then we encourage you to apply. This role is based in Springs, Johannesburg East. Key Responsibilities: Administer payroll information and ensure accurate payroll processing. Validate, check, and capture payroll and leave input. Compile and review payroll variances and other relevant controls before payroll finalization. Guide Payroll Clerks and business units on new payroll processes and forms. Validate dismissals/resignations and verify final pay-outs. Resolve second-line payroll-related queries within agreed service levels. Review and approve interim payments. Oversee payroll filing and ensure proper documentation. Manage the printing and distribution of payslips on a weekly/monthly basis. Organise and implement payroll processes to ensure smooth and timely payroll runs. Reconcile payroll data with third-party vendors and resolve discrepancies within 30 days. Compile and distribute month-end reports to business units. Manage month-end processes, including preparation and reconciliations. Recommend improvements and implement changes in payroll processes and systems. Test cost components and legislative changes affecting payroll. Report system issues to the IT department and ensure the resolution thereof. Participate in and contribute to payroll-related projects and initiatives. Provide payroll-related information to management, customers, and other stakeholders as needed. Ensure compliance with company policies, the delegation of authority, and statutory legislation. Perform ad hoc duties as required within the scope of the role. Job Experience and Skills Required: Diploma in Finance or Payroll-related. 5 years proven experience in payroll administration, with a headcount of 1 000 employees. Must come from a Shared Services environment. Strong knowledge of payroll processes, legislation, and compliance requirements. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in payroll processing. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve payroll queries effectively. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to manage end-to-end payroll across local and international operations—ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service delivery within a dynamic and growing business. About the Role As the Payroll Administrator, you will manage the payroll process for the South African entity and liaise with global payroll providers for international staff. You’ll ensure timely, accurate salary processing, handle employee queries, and collaborate closely with internal Finance and HR teams to deliver a seamless payroll experience. Location: Hybrid – Johannesburg Employment Type: Full-Time Industry: Financial Services | HR & Payroll WatersEdge Solutions is partnering with a client to find a detail-oriented Payroll Administrator who thrives in a dynamic, multi-entity environment. If you’re highly organised, proficient with Sage People300, and passionate about delivering accurate payroll and employee services, this is the perfect opportunity to step into a collaborative, impact-driven role. About the Role As a Payroll Administrator, you’ll be responsible for maintaining payroll accuracy, resolving employee queries, managing system updates, and ensuring all statutory requirements are met. You’ll be the go-to liaison between HR, Finance, and third-party payroll vendors, playing a crucial role in ensuring payroll runs smoothly and compliantly across the business. Key Responsibilities Onboard new employees and verify ID, banking, and tax information Process and maintain payroll data in Sage People300 & ESS Liaise with vendors for background checks and manage invoice processing Apply for income tax numbers and tax directives via SARS eFiling Administer staff loans, advances, and Paycurve deductions Handle leave processing, Jira ticket queries, and employee updates Prepare and process monthly referral fees in collaboration with the recruitment team Export payroll and employee data reports (e.g., terminations, banking, variances) Administer ESS access, password resets, and payroll system permissions Act as liaison with VAT IT and external Sage consultants (T3T) Assist with audit preparation and employee document back scanning (DocuVision) What You’ll Bring Proficient in Sage People300 & ESS Strong financial and computer literacy, particularly Excel Excellent administrative and time management skills High attention to detail and confidentiality Sound knowledge of South African labour law and BCEA Effective communication and problem-solving abilities Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure Nice to Have Experience using Jira ticketing systems Prior involvement in DocuVision or similar digital HR file projects Exposure to external payroll software vendors and integrations What’s On Offer Join a dynamic and well-structured payroll function Hybrid working model with exposure to multi-entity operations Supportive environment focused on employee wellbeing and compliance Opportunity to contribute to large-scale process and system improvement initiatives Company Culture Our client fosters a collaborative, compliant, and employee-centric culture.
