Job Description

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the CFO will act as a key business partner to the executive team, ensuring sound financial governance, operational efficiency, and long-term organizational growth. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the full Finance and Administration functions, including payroll, creditors, debtors, POD, and claims. Oversee cash flow management, ensuring liquidity and financial stability. Ensure accurate billing, revenue completeness, and the integrity of debtors statements. Oversee full financial accounting, reporting, and compliance. Manage budgeting and forecasting processes, applying appropriate tools and methodology. Compile, analyse and distribute accurate monthly and quarterly management accounts and statutory reports. Oversee and support internal audits, ensuring adherence to deadlines and governance standards. Assess, recommend, and implement financial systems and process improvements. Conduct feasibility studies, due diligence assessments, and commercial evaluations as required. Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and frameworks. Recruit, manage, mentor, and engage suitably qualified finance staff. Drive key financial KPIs including cash flow performance, EBITDA, margins, rolling forecasts, budgets, and financial statements. Job Experience and Skills Required: Registered CA(SA) (essential). Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance. Minimum 10 years experience managing a Finance department. Minimum 5 years experience leading a finance team. Strong commercial and financial acumen with proven experience in budgeting and forecasting. Excellent taxation knowledge (including cross-border legislation for neighbouring countries). Strong understanding of imports, exports, customs and duties. Proven experience implementing financial systems. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Strong employee management and IR-related capabilities. Advanced MS Excel proficiency. Extensive experience in the courier / freight / logistics industry (essential). Strong planning, organising, delegation, and project management capability. My client, a dynamic and reputable player in the insurance industry , is looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will oversee all aspects of finance, collections, and shared services. This is a hands-on role that requires someone who is both strategic and operational a true all-rounder with the ability to strengthen internal controls and deliver measurable results. You will lead a diverse team of more than 30 professionals across finance, collections, and operations, ensuring cohesion, accountability, and performance. The ideal individual thrives in a fast-paced environment and is driven by transformation, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: Lead and develop a large, multi-functional finance and shared services team (30 members). Drive and manage collections, budgeting, and financial reporting processes. As CFO, you will join a forward-thinking executive team, gain exposure to international markets, and lead a high-performing finance division driving continuous improvement and innovation. This role offers exceptional strategic influence, cross-continental exposure, and the chance to leave a legacy in a fast-evolving engineering group. Key Responsibilities: Lead the full financial strategy, governance, and long-term planning of the organisation. Oversee group reporting, cross-border consolidations, and international tax compliance. Drive financial performance, operational efficiencies, and cost optimisation across multiple regions. Ensure compliance with BEE regulatory requirements, statutory reporting, and corporate governance standards. Provide strategic insight to the Board and executive team to support growth, expansion, and risk management. Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary finance team while strengthening controls, systems, and processes. Job Experience and Skills Required: Education: Relevant finance degree (e.g., BCom, BCom Honours, or equivalent). Experience: Minimum 15 years financial management experience , with at least 5 years at executive/leadership level in the engineering or project-based industries . Strong exposure to BEE , compliance , strategy formulation , and corporate governance . Proven experience handling international tax , cross-border reporting , and multinational group structures. Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel . Ability to operate in a fast-paced, complex environment with cross-functional teams.
