• Accounting

  • Manage the full accounting function for an allocated portfolio of clients.
  • Perform accounting functions through to trial balance.
  • Prepare and produce monthly management reports.
  • Prepare and analyse financial information and accounting records.
  • Draft annual financial statements for:
    • Companies
    • Trusts
    • Sole proprietors
  • Prepare annual financial statements using CaseWare.
  • Provide accounting and financial guidance to clients where required.
  • Ensure all accounting work is accurate, complete, and performed within required deadlines.

  Taxation & Compliance

  • Prepare and submit income tax returns for individuals and companies.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns for sole proprietors, companies, and trusts.
  • Provide tax planning and advisory services to clients.
  • Provide advice on general tax and accounting matters.
  • Manage and respond to SARS correspondence on behalf of clients.
  • Attend to SARS queries, requests, and compliance matters.
  • Prepare and file notices of objection via eFiling where required.
  • Attend to suspension of debt applications via eFiling.
  • Ensure clients remain compliant with applicable tax legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to optimise clients’ tax positions while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

  Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Maintain professional relationships with clients and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate tax and accounting matters clearly and professionally.
  • Liaise with SARS and other relevant stakeholders when required.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure efficient delivery of client services.
  • Conduct all client interactions in a professional and service-oriented manner.
  • Travel to client premises when required.

  4. Required Technical Skills & Systems

  The successful candidate must have:

  • Practical experience with SARS eFiling.
  • Strong working knowledge of Pastel.
  • Strong working knowledge of CaseWare.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Good understanding of South African tax and accounting requirements.
  • Ability to prepare and submit income tax and VAT returns.
  • Ability to independently manage SARS correspondence and related compliance matters.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

  5. Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  The following requirements are mandatory unless otherwise stated:

  • Accounting Degree or Higher Diploma – non-negotiable.
  • Completed Articles.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in an accounting environment, preferably within an accounting or professional services firm.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a portfolio of accounting and tax clients.
  • Working knowledge and practical experience with Pastel.
  • Knowledge and practical experience with CaseWare – imperative.
  • Experience with SARS eFiling.
  • Valid driver’s licence – non-negotiable.
  • Own reliable vehicle – required.
