Role Purpose The Senior SAP CAR / POS DM Consultant will support and optimise the organisation’s SAP Customer Activity Repository and point-of-sale data management environment. The role focuses on ensuring accurate, complete, and timely processing of high-volume POS transaction data across stores, channels, and downstream systems. This person must understand how retail transaction data flows from point-of-sale into SAP CAR / POS DM / POSDTA, how exceptions are managed, how sales audit and transaction validation work, and how this data supports finance, stock, reporting, replenishment, promotions, pricing, and operational decision-making. Key Responsibilities Lead SAP CAR and POS DM / POSDTA functional support, configuration, issue resolution, and enhancement activity. Analyse POS transaction flows from stores into SAP, identifying failures, reconciliation gaps, missing data, duplicate transactions, incorrect tender handling, failed article mapping, incorrect tax, pricing, promotion, or return logic. Support the end-to-end sales audit process, including transaction validation, exception handling, corrections, balancing, settlement, and downstream integration. Work closely with retail operations, finance, store systems, integration teams, SAP Retail consultants, BI/reporting teams, and technical developers. Investigate complex POS data issues across store, article, price, promotion, tender, payment, tax, loyalty, returns, and inventory-related transaction scenarios. Support integration between SAP CAR, SAP Retail / S/4HANA Retail, POS systems, middleware, BW/BI/reporting platforms, finance, and inventory processes. Define and document functional specifications for enhancements, interfaces, reports, corrections, and support fixes. Guide testing across POS transaction scenarios, including store sales, refunds, voids, discounts, promotions, tenders, mixed baskets, loyalty transactions, and end-of-day processing. Provide senior-level troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for failed or inconsistent transaction processing. Support data quality, reconciliation, monitoring, and operational controls over POS transaction processing. Must-Have Skills Strong SAP CAR experience. Strong POS DM / POSDTA / point-of-sale data management experience. Retail transaction processing experience in a high-volume retail environment. Understanding of POS inbound processing, sales audit, transaction validation, exception handling, and reconciliation. Experience with SAP Retail / S/4HANA Retail integration. Ability to investigate and resolve complex transactional data issues. Strong functional specification and testing experience. Ability to work with business stakeholders and technical teams. Highly Advantageous SAP HANA exposure. ABAP debugging ability. Experience with SAP PI/PO, CPI, IDocs, RFCs, APIs, or other integration methods. Experience in grocery, FMCG, supermarket, fashion, pharmacy, or large-format retail. Experience with promotions, pricing, loyalty, tenders, settlement, and stock-impacting POS transactions. Ideal Candidate Profile A senior SAP CAR / POS DM consultant who has worked in a complex retail environment with high transaction volumes. They should be comfortable operating between business and technical teams and must be able to troubleshoot deeply, not just configure at surface level.
