About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support in the Industrial Relations (IR) department, ensuring that all employees are aware of company IR protocols and regulations, and that employees have access to relevant handbooks when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist employees and management with queries and requests
  • Use discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Advise management on matters involving conflict between employees
  • Perform general administrative duties (filing, etc.)
  • Improve communication, cooperation, and planning in the IR department
  • Assist in developing company IR protocols, operating procedures, and handbooks
  • Maintain and follow company policies, regulations, and procedures related to staff rights and responsibilities
  • Ensure all staff members are aware of IR protocols and have access to relevant handbooks
  • Work with operations managers on disciplinary action (document preparation, investigations, hearings)
  • Support IR and operational managers with CCMA, Bargaining Councils, or Labour Court referrals (representation)
  • Provide continuous revision, internal training, and updates on IR and recent case law
  • Coordinate external training as necessary
  • Assist in managing conflict between parties and employees, including unions and management
  • Induct new staff on the code of conduct and IR protocols
  • Perform any other duties assigned

Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric or Equivalent Qualification
  • Certificate, degree, diploma, or other relevant experience relating to HR, IR/ER, SA Labour Legislation
  • Excellent command of the English language (written and spoken)
