A highly innovative engineering and technology company is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to join its multidisciplinary development team in Paarl, Western Cape. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development, testing, and integration of embedded systems and firmware solutions for advanced electronic products. Education: B.Eng or M.Eng in Electronics Engineering or a related field. Job Experience & Skills Required: Minimum 610 years of experience in embedded firmware development and electronic design. Strong programming experience in C/C++ for embedded microcontrollers. Exposure to platforms such as Microchip PIC, STM8, STM32, Dialog, or Silicon Labs. Experience with PCB design and embedded hardware development. Strong understanding of low-voltage and low-power electronic systems. Proficiency in Python scripting for automation and testing. Experience defining software architecture and application interfaces. Ability to design, debug, test, and integrate embedded hardware and firmware solutions. Knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout review processes. Experience with BLE firmware development, OTA updates, bootloaders, IoT devices, and mobile application integration will be advantageous. Additional exposure to RF technologies, CI/CD environments, ESP32 development, reusable module design, and modern toolchains will be beneficial. Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain embedded software applications using C/C++. Create Python scripts to support testing and automation activities. Design software architectures and application interfaces. Prototype electronic systems and contribute to PCB design activities. Develop low-power hardware and firmware solutions. Perform debugging, verification, and system integration testing. Review schematic designs and PCB layouts. Support project documentation and quality management requirements.
