If you have a proven track record in technical procurement and can perform under pressure, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities:
- Identifying and qualifying new suppliers both within South Africa and internationally to meet specific commodity needs for the mining and oil and gas sectors.
- Finalizing prices, terms, and supply agreements; negotiating rebates and discounts to ensure cost-efficiency and improved margins.
- Managing the full purchasing cycle from sourcing to delivery, ensuring all materials and equipment align with production schedules.
- Managing international shipments, tracking global cargo, and coordinating with freight forwarders to prevent stock shortages and delivery delays.
- Validating import and export documentation, verifying duty amounts and freight invoices, and ensuring compliance with trade requirements like Euro 1 certificates.
- Verifying the accuracy of Bills of Materials (BOMs), part numbers, and MRP data to maintain high levels of precision in technical orders.
- Maintaining strong relationships with international clients and suppliers, providing regular status updates, and resolving any supply chain obstacles proactively.
- Liaising extensively with clients for relationship management and assisting with the bidding process for tenders when required.
- Researching and implementing improved purchasing methods to eliminate unnecessary expenditure and streamline operational efficiency.
Requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related technical field.
- Proven experience in technical procurement, specifically within the mining or oil and gas industries.
- Strong understanding of international sourcing, import/export logistics, and global costing.
