About the Role

Dante Personnel is seeking an experienced Electronic and Electrical Automation Technician to join our team in Durban. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial automation, electrical control systems, and PLC systems. They will be responsible for installing, configuring, and commissioning automation equipment, performing maintenance and repairs, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and commission PLCs, VSDs, and automation equipment
  • Perform maintenance, fault finding, and repairs on electrical and automation systems
  • Troubleshoot electrical control systems and associated equipment
  • Modify and maintain PLC programs for automation processes
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and routine inspections
  • Assist with testing and commissioning of new or upgraded automation equipment
  • Install and upgrade electrical components including motors, drives, pumps, lighting systems, and control panels
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company procedures
  • Train operators on the use and maintenance of automation systems where required

Requirements

  • Trade Test: Electrician
  • N6 or T4 Qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 4 Years experience working with PLC systems and VSDs in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation principles and electrical control systems
  • Knowledge of electrical switchgear and control systems up to 400VAC
  • Experience with fault finding, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
  • Valid driver’s license advantageous
