About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Millwright to join our client’s team in Durban. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems and mechanical repairs, with experience working in heavy industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns to minimize production downtime
  • Strip, assess, rebuild, and align industrial machinery to OEM specifications
  • Work safely on 3-phase and single-phase power distribution systems up to 400VAC
  • Wire, modify, and fault-find electrical control panels including relays, overloads, contactors, and safety circuits
  • Fault-find around PLC systems and determine field or program-related issues
  • Troubleshoot, replace, program, and set parameters on Variable Speed Drives (VSDs)
  • Diagnose and repair pneumatic circuits, valves, cylinders, compressors, and airline systems
  • Perform welding and fabrication for machinery repairs and modifications

Requirements

  • Trade Test: Millwright
  • Dual-trade Electrical and Mechanical qualification advantageous
  • 3 Years post-apprenticeship experience in a heavy industrial, manufacturing, or high-speed packaging environment
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems up to 400VAC
  • Experience working with PLCs, VSDs, pneumatic systems, and process control loops
  • Welding and fabrication experience essential
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, wiring, and pneumatic schematics
  • Willing to work shifts and weekends when required
  • Valid driver’s license advantageous
