Job Summary

Our client a quintessential start-up, only registered in September 2022, however, the work has been ongoing since 2018 and was only formalized into a company for ease of administration. Due to the boom in PV installations, the services of the company have become a hot commodity and thus they are expanding to serve the needs of the market in the most sustainable way possible.

This role requires a self-starter with a proven ability to build relationships and develop new business opportunities as the Business Development Manager. This is a client-facing position, and the candidate will have to deal with clients daily.

The following is an indication of work to expect but not limited. The tasks will evolve with time-based on the specific company requirements

  • Define various strategies for business expansion
  • Identify new potential clients for engineering services and engage clients
  • Engage and deliver new clients for PPAs
    • Full responsibility for the entire process
  • Develop Financial analysis programs for PPAs and other services
  • Engage with Electricity Traders
  • Basic marketing as required
  • Attending conferences and networking events

Remuneration (monthly):

  • To be discussed during interview
  • Minimum R18 500
  • Mobile phone allowance

At this time the company does not provide additional monthly benefits, once we have stabilized the company will provide:

  • Medical Aid
  • Pension/Provident Fund
  • etc.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum

  • Bachelor`s degree or equivalent education
  • Experience in business development, sales or related fields within the energy sector
  • Advanced and in-depth proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently, exceptional planning/ organizational skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Able to work flexible hours
  • Own Transport
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Optional Extras:

  • Experience in Project Management and/or Commercial negotiations
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Loop, Wrike or similar
  • Comes from a school project background and understands the processes

Commission:

This shall be discussed at the interview. To be based on success rate and will be % of the project profits.

Bonus:

The candidate will be eligible for a bonus. The bonus is calculated based on the profit made by the company at the end of the relevant financial year and the achieved KPIs of the individual candidate. Bonus is not linked to remuneration.

Place of Work

The position will start as fully remote working and migrate to being in an office (when we have an office) at least 2 times per week.

Full-time in the office will not be required if the candidate performs all tasks as expected. We strive for a remote/flexible environment while building team spirit as well. So we will migrate to a Hybrid Approach when the time is right, however, for this position, more time will be spent on the road than in the office.

First 2-months:

The candidate will be systematically trained on the following:

  • Computer Systems and Current Organizational Structures
  • Basics of the work at hand e.g. forms, role players, responsibilities
  • General requirements and responsibilities
  • It will be expected that the candidate completes the assignments.
  • Familiarization with the internal systems and setting up an optimal working environment (digital).
  • Introductions will be made to key external parties as the candidate will be the first line of communication.
  • The candidate will start doing market research, which entails speaking to potential clients based on the strategies defined.
