Job Description

ENVIRONMENT:

A dynamic Online Learning Platform seeks a self-driven and performance-focused Teaching & Learning Manager whose core role will be to drive teaching and learning enhancements across all programmes, to enhance student participation and success. You will ensure the preparation of periodic teaching and learning schedules for relevant courses, ensure the completion, analysis and actioning of all assessment-related lecturer reports, oversee all student onboarding-related initiatives while regularly reviewing assessment and industry reports to benchmark student performance (with an aim to constantly improve student performance). Applicants must hold an Honours Degree in Education/Higher Education a postgraduate Teaching qualification and/or E-learning development courses in addition, will prove beneficial. You must also have 3-4 Years teaching/lecturing at a recognised tertiary institution including managerial experience, within a Higher Education environment & proficiency with the use of an LMS.

DUTIES:

Teaching & Learning Management –

  • In conjunction with the Programme Coordinator, ensure the preparation of periodic teaching and learning schedules for relevant courses.
  • Analyse trends in students performance and compile and implement strategies to improve student success and throughput rates across all programmes.
  • Oversee the quality, distribution and correct storage of all teaching and learning-related assets.
  • Ensure the completion, analysis and actioning of all assessment-related lecturer reports.
  • Ensure accurate storage of the latest version of curricula, assessments, and course content.
  • Proactively drive communications related to teaching and learning and programme specific initiatives.
  • Ensure the analysis and execution and monitoring of improvements emanating from teaching and learning surveys.
  • Oversee the preparation of study materials in support of existing programmes.
  • Oversee all student onboarding-related initiatives.
  • In collaboration with the Head: Faculty and the Institutional Librarian, regularly review additional resource content for alignment and improvement.
  • Facilitate and coordinate monthly discipline-specific webinars.

Reporting & Quality Assurance –

  • Regularly review assessment and industry reports to benchmark student performance (with an aim to constantly improve student performance).
  • In collaboration with the Head: Faculty, prepare monthly reports related to participation, assessment and throughput.
  • Report on all improvements implemented, and measure these over time for effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the quality of electronic learning content is aligned to the learning outcomes and assessment criteria of a particular programme.
  • In collaboration with the Programme Coordinator, regularly review the quality of teaching assets as provided by academic personnel.

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications

  • An Honours Degree in Education/Higher Education.
  • A postgraduate Teaching qualification will be an advantage.
  • E-learning development courses will be an advantage.

Experience/Skills

  • 3-4 Years teaching/lecturing at a recognised tertiary institution.
  • 3-4 Years of managerial experience, within a Higher Education environment.
  • Successful track record in the operational management of a high student volume digitised learning environment.
  • Curriculum design, learning material development, and assessment development and design.
  • Proven track record in executing online teaching and learning.
  • Previous experience with learning management system applications.
  • Proficient in the use of an LMS.
  • Competence in MS Suite.
  • Experience using video and screen recording software.
  • Strong project management skills, administered through effective planning, prioritising, and organising of resources.
