The prime responsibilities of a Shop Fitter in the retail shopfitting industry typically include the installation, assembly, and finishing of retail store fixtures and fittings to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.Prime Responsibilities of a Shop FitterRead and interpret technical drawings, plans, and installation specifications.Assemble and install retail fixtures, cabinetry, shelving, counters, displays, and joinery.Install wall panels, signage, shopfronts, and other shopfitting components.Measure, mark, cut, and fit materials accurately according to project specifications.Ensure all installations are level, secure, and meet company quality standards.Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and installation equipment safely.Conduct site preparation and ensure work areas remain clean and organised throughout the installation process.Identify and report site issues, defects, or discrepancies that may impact installation.Work closely with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and other trades to ensure project deadlines are achieved.Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements, company policies, and client site regulations.Complete installation work within allocated timeframes while maintaining high workmanship standards.Carry out repairs, adjustments, and snag-list items before project handover.Assist with loading, unloading, and handling of materials and completed products where required.
