Live-In Position Kendrick Recruitment is currently hiring an experienced and motivated Sous Chef for a private game reserve based in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape. This opportunity is ideal for a passionate culinary professional with strong leadership abilities and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest dining experiences within a luxury lodge environment. The successful candidate will support daily kitchen operations across both lodge and villa kitchens while maintaining exceptional culinary standards, mentoring junior chefs, and ensuring seamless dining experiences for guests. Requirements: Minimum 5 years experience within a professional kitchen Previous lodge experience mandatory Proven leadership and kitchen team management skills Strong all-round culinary ability across hot kitchen and pastry sections Experience in baking, breads, desserts, cold kitchen, la carte, and family-style service Strong organisational, planning, and time management abilities Excellent attention to detail and consistency in food preparation In-depth understanding of stock control, food costing, and kitchen administration Knowledge of dietary, cultural, and religious food requirements Ability to work flexible hours, including early, late, and split shifts Valid drivers licence required Key Responsibilities: Lead daily kitchen operations across lodge and villa kitchens Supervise, coordinate, and mentor junior chefs Ensure consistency in food quality, presentation, and taste Support menu development, costing, and implementation Collaborate on innovative seasonal menu creation Manage stock control, ordering, and kitchen administration Ensure compliance with HACCP, hygiene, and safety standards Maintain kitchen discipline and efficient daily operations Work closely with operational departments to deliver seamless guest experiences Train and develop junior chefs within a positive team environment Employment Terms: Rotation Cycle: 6 Weeks On / 2 Weeks Off Early, late, and split shifts required On Offer: Salary negotiable depending on experience 50% contribution towards medical aid 50% contribution towards provident fund Monthly food allowance of R750 Please note that only suitable candidates will be contacted.
