METHODOLOGY

Credibility starts with saying what the data is, and what it is not

What is counted

Each record is a vacancy listing retained as published by JVR Jobs. Counts are grouped by the listing publication date stored by the site.

What is not counted

Applications, interviews, hires, filled positions and net employment creation are not inferred from a listing. A listing may advertise more than one position.

Coverage

The dataset combines imported feeds and direct employer submissions. It is useful for studying JVR Jobs listing activity, but it is not a census of every vacancy in South Africa.

Duplicates and revisions

Importer identifiers reduce repeated feed records, but employers may advertise similar vacancies across sources or dates. Aggregates should be interpreted as listings, not guaranteed unique roles.

Historical snapshots

Recent dates are recalculated for late imports and corrections. Older aggregate rows are retained, allowing the historical series to survive normal vacancy expiry.

Location method

Raw locations remain available. Province signals use a documented place-name mapping and keep ambiguous records in “Province not identified”.

Privacy

Only aggregate vacancy data is published here. Jobseeker profiles, contact details and application information are not part of this dataset.

Use the data, cite the limits.

Researchers, journalists and employers can download the aggregate CSV files above. Please cite “JVR Jobs Market Intelligence” and the refresh date.
