How to Recognise and Report a Fake Job
A professional-looking advert, logo or WhatsApp profile is not proof that a vacancy is genuine. Check the opportunity, the organisation and the application destination independently.
High-risk requests
Do not pay an application, training, equipment, background-check or placement fee to obtain ordinary employment. Never provide an OTP, banking password, remote-device access or cryptocurrency transfer. Be suspicious of pressure to act immediately or move all communication away from traceable channels.
Verify independently
Find the organisation through its own public website or established directory, then contact it using details you found independently. Check whether the email domain, person, vacancy and location agree. Search distinctive wording and the contact number for prior reports.
Protect your documents
A recruiter may reasonably need a CV and later supporting documents, but minimise what you send at each stage. Watermark highly sensitive copies where appropriate and ask why the information is needed, how it will be protected and how long it will be kept.
Report with facts
Preserve the advert URL, dates, sender details, payment requests and screenshots. Use Report this job on JVR Jobs. For fraud, threats or loss, contact the relevant bank, platform and law-enforcement channel promptly. A report is an allegation for review, not proof of guilt.
If you already responded
Stop further transfers, change exposed passwords from a safe device, contact your bank where financial details were involved and preserve evidence. Warn contacts if your messaging account was taken over.
