<p><strong>JOB DESCRIPTION</strong></p><p>Perform cost-effective mechanical maintenance and repairs on all plant and ancillary equipment in the department.</p><p>Cost-effective installation of new plant and machinery.</p><p>Recording of all work performed on plant and ancillary equipment on a time sheet and worksheet.</p><p>Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of all mechanical plant and ancillary equipment on site.</p><p>Maintain a high level of housekeeping and total compliance with safety standards within his work area.</p><p>Performing of overtime work and standby duties as and when required.</p><p>Assisting with on-the-job training of apprentices and semi-skilled artisans working in the engineering division.</p><p>Requisitioning of spares and materials.</p><p>Assist in the formulation and implementation of a planned maintenance program.</p><p>Be able to record faults, add to planned work list and plan execution of work.</p><p><strong>MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Matric / NTC 3.</p><p>Completed trade test as <strong>Fitter </strong>(and Turner, would be advantageous) with Red Seal Experience in the servicing and installation of:</p><p>Hydraulic and pneumatic equipment;</p><p>Conveyors;</p><p>Gear boxes; and</p><p>Belt and chain drives.</p><p>Experienced in Sawmill related equipment, would be advantageous:</p><p>Frame saws, bandsaws and associated equipment;</p><p>Drum chippers;</p><p>Debarkers;</p><p>Planers</p><p>Finger jointer machine</p><p>Destacker</p><p>Boilers</p><p>Kilns</p><p>Proven experience as a welder.</p><p>A minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
