Job Description

Our client in the FMCG sector is looking for a Junior Imports Accountant to join their dynamic team and support the smooth financial and operational flow of imported goods. As a Junior Imports Accountant, you will play a key support role in managing import documentation, monitoring costs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and assisting with financial processing linked to incoming shipments. Key Responsibilities: Import Documentation & Compliance: Assist with preparing and maintaining import-related documentation, including purchase orders, shipping documents, and customs declarations. Ensure that all documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with the applicable trade and customs regulations. Support the resolution of customs queries and keep abreast of regulatory updates affecting imports. Shipment & Logistics Coordination: Liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, clearing agents, and transporters to coordinate inbound shipments. Track and monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery. Submit clearing documentation and maintain communication with customs clearing agents. Inventory & Financial Processing: Update and reconcile records of incoming stock to ensure accurate inventory management. Assist with the preparation of supplier payments related to imports. Capture profit & loss journals where required. Support the monitoring and reporting of import-related expenses. Identify potential cost-saving opportunities within the supply chain. Problem Solving & Reporting: Assist with resolving shipment delays, discrepancies, and compliance-related matters. Collect and analyse import data to identify trends and efficiency improvements. Maintain accurate databases and records for reporting purposes. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise closely with internal departments, including Raw Materials Receiving, Sales, Production Planning, and Accounts. Support overall supply chain objectives through effective communication and teamwork. Administrative Support: Provide general administrative assistance to the imports department, including filing, scheduling, and correspondence management. Assist with preparing reports and presentations. Support ad hoc duties as required. Continuous Development: Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in import logistics. Participate in training and development initiatives to enhance your skills. Job Experience and Skills Required: Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, Logistics, or Supply Chain (Diploma or Degree advantageous). 12 years experience in imports, logistics, or a finance-related role preferred.
