Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite commercial policies, including new business, renewals, and endorsements.
• Prepare and issue quotations in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
• Assess risks and make informed underwriting decisions.
• Ensure all policy documentation is accurately processed and issued.
• Negotiate renewal terms and prepare renewal documentation.
• Conduct renewal reviews and retention analyses.
• Monitor policy exposure and identify corrective actions where required.
• Request and manage survey requirements in line with company procedures.
• Support business retention and growth initiatives.
• Resolve client and broker queries effectively and within agreed service standards.
• Ensure compliance with internal underwriting standards, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain accurate electronic records and documentation.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure excellent service delivery.
• Identify opportunities to improve underwriting processes and operational efficiencies.

Requirements

• Matric.
• NQF 5 qualification in Short-Term Insurance.
• Regulatory Examination (RE) certification.
• Commercial Lines Class of Business certification.
• DOFA compliant.
• Minimum of 5 years' commercial underwriting experience.
• Previous experience within an insurer or broker environment with underwriting authority.
• Strong understanding of commercial insurance products and underwriting principles.
• Cardinal 360 system experience will be advantageous.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
