About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite personal lines policies, including new business, renewals, and endorsements.
• Prepare and issue quotations in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
• Assess risks and make informed underwriting decisions.
• Support the sales team in acquiring and retaining profitable business.
• Ensure all policy documentation is processed accurately and timeously.
• Negotiate renewal terms and prepare renewal documentation.
• Conduct renewal reviews and calculate retention ratios.
• Request and monitor survey requirements where applicable.
• Monitor policy exposure and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Respond to client and broker queries effectively and professionally.
• Maintain accurate records and electronic filing systems.
• Resolve escalated customer queries and complaints within agreed service standards.
• Collaborate with the underwriting team to achieve service delivery objectives.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Matric.
• NQF 5 qualification in Short-Term Insurance.
• Regulatory Examination (RE) certification.
• Personal Lines Class of Business certification.
• DOFA compliant.
• Minimum of 4 years' Personal Lines underwriting experience.
• Strong understanding of Personal Insurance products and the Financial Services industry.
• Cardinal 360 system experience will be advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
