Objective Responsible for line-inspection Quality Assurance & Control across fabricated projects within the Company fabrication network along with associated duties, DMS Duties and Responsibilities Managing Quality Assurance & Control according to the IMS within the Company across projects as required Creating quality awareness & implications with all Employees across the spectrum Where necessary, be appointed as SHE-LCD-501-Welding Supervisor Perform QC inspections prior to welding: layout, fit-up, sub-assembly & final-assembly inspections Perform QC inspections during welding: pre-heat, weld quality compliance, interval distortion checks & NDT (Non-Destructive Tests) witnessing on back gouging of critical welds Perform QC inspections after welding: dimensional checks on critical components, inspection of welds prior to NDT, NDT arrangements & NDT requests Perform QC inspections final after: primer painting, final inspection before final painting, witnessing weighing of products, pre-shipment, completing checklists (final product punch-list & supervisor/QC check sheet) Perform QC inspections prior to line-bore: line-up inspection as per drawing, photo evidence available for critical dims, workmanship checks (weld quality), assisting with queries, compile checklist (record actual dims measured) Perform QC inspections misc. acceptance review: x-rays inspection, bushes & small parts, NDT & visual casting witness, machine components, qualifying/certifying of welders (issuing with ID tags), supplier parts Raising of new NDT requests as well as reviewing and compiling of NDT reports on Galactus live system Acquire evidence & data for quality control and data books/MDRs (Manufacture Data Record) Progressively compile photographical, pre-heat, customer, & line boring reports (MDR or stand-alone) Logging CIP, CAR (Continuous Improvement Process/Corrective Action Request) and NCR issues as & when necessary ITP/QCP/SOW hold-point monitoring & managing sign-off of ITP/QCP/SOW process steps Managing of 3rd party & client inspections, assisting with logistics if necessary, occasional breakdown support Perform inhouse MT & PT inspections, recording of UT failures on live system Conducting internal/external audits, certification audits, supplier audits (new, current, critical) Identify shortcomings in manufacture; report anomalies & recommend changes in systems Education and Training National Senior Certificate Qualified Trade Minimum Level 1 Welding & Fabrication Inspector Certificate Knowledge and Experience 5 years welding & fabrication experience in a similar position Interpretation of design intent (drawings, blueprints, eng. docs) & ensuring requirements of relevant codes, standards & specifications are met Advanced knowledge of welding procedures and processes (FCAW/SAW/CO2 on Q&T plates) Proficient computer & math skills, particularly MS 365 Be tech-savvy (use tablets, smartphones, comm, etc with ease) Skills and Abilities Diligence for strict data management Production, deadline and efficiency driven Strong written communication skills Stress tolerance & strong leadership Initiative & thinking for oneself Self-managed, self-directed & highly motivated Physically fit (eg: using both hands, climbing, walking around) Able to work collaboratively in a team setting Able to follow instructions thoroughly Clear telephonic communication ability
