About the Role

A Process Technician is seeking a skilled professional to support the operations of a manufacturing facility in Paarl. This role involves ensuring optimal functionality of control and instrumentation systems, managing calibration records, and overseeing electronic weighing and flowmeter operations. The candidate must also develop and update process control drawings using Microsoft Visio, plan modifications to Beckhoff I/O lists, and submit updated I/O information to the system integrator. They should also assist in fault-finding with electricians and participate in the company’s continuous improvement program. The candidate should have a Diploma or BTech degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Control Systems, and experience in industrial instrumentation and process control systems. They should also possess practical experience in electronic weighing systems, PLCs, variable-speed drives, and soft starters, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office and technical drawing software. The candidate should be self-motivated, have excellent attention to detail, and be able to work independently. A valid driver’s license is required, and the candidate should ideally reside in Paarl or the surrounding area.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the optimal functioning of control and instrumentation components throughout the manufacturing facility.
• Manage calibration records for process scales and weighbridges.
• Calibrate and monitor process scales, electronic weighing systems, and weighbridges.
• Calibrate and oversee the proper functioning of electronic flowmeters.
• Develop and update process control drawings for maintenance and projects using Microsoft Visio.
• Plan modifications and alterations to Beckhoff I/O lists.
• Submit updated I/O information to the relevant system integrator.
• Assist electricians with automation fault-finding, including after-hours standby support when required.
• Participate in the company’s continuous improvement programme.
• Complete related technical and administrative duties accurately.

Requirements

• Diploma or BTech degree in Electrical Engineering, including Industrial Control Systems as a subject.
• At least five years’ post-qualification experience within a factory, plant, or similar manufacturing environment.
• Practical experience in industrial instrumentation and process control systems.
• Experience with electronic weighing systems and PLCs.
• Knowledge of variable-speed drives and soft starters.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
