Job Title: Data Center Genset Engineer

Location: Eastern Cape

Salary: 3000 USD per month

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Genset Engineer with expertise in diesel generator installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in data centers or large industrial facilities, particularly with Mitsubishi and Perkins generators.

• Monitor and maintain diesel generator (DG) units, ensuring operational efficiency.

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in DG systems, including PLC controls.

• Perform preventative maintenance and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and resolve power outages/shortages.

• Maintain inventory of spare parts and ensure timely repairs.

• Adhere to electrical and mechanical codes and workplace safety regulations.

• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities.

• Report malfunctions and defects to Supervisors promptly.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of experience in diesel generator installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

• Data Center or Large Industrial Facility Experience preferred.

• Familiarity with Mitsubishi and Perkins generators is an advantage.

• Educational Qualifications:

  • Higher National Diploma/National Diploma/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.

  • N3-N6/Equivalent in Mechanical Engineering/Diesel Generators.

  • Professional Engineering Technician/Equivalent Field Experience (accredited by the Engineering Council of South Africa).

  • Valid Trade Test accredited by the Engineering Council of South Africa.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.

• Ability to interpret technical blueprints and code compliance requirements.

• Experience working with PLC control systems.

• Knowledge of preventative maintenance strategies for DG systems.

• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work independently and within a team.
