REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Interest in electrical, mechanical, or technical workshop work
- Ability to read or interpret technical drawings (or willingness to learn)
- Good hand skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to work in a technical manufacturing environment
- Practical, detail-oriented, and eager to develop skills in the electrical engineering field
- Exposure to industrial and utility electrical systems, including
- Transmission and distribution control panels
- General MV switchgear control cubicles
ADVANTAGEOUS, BUT NOT COMPULSORY
- N1N3 Electrical Engineering studies
- Apprenticeship or workshop experience
- Exposure to panel wiring or electrical assembly
- Understanding of industrial electrical systems
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the assembly, wiring, and testing of medium- and high-voltage electrical control panels and switchgear systems used in power distribution, substations, and industrial automation environments
- Interpret electrical wiring diagrams and technical drawings
- Assemble and wire MV and LV control panels and switchgear cubicles
- Assist with the assembly of substation and power distribution equipment
- Wire and connect components such as relays, breakers, terminals, and control devices
- Ensure correct labelling of all wires, components, and panels
- Perform quality checks (continuity testing, tightness, and visual inspection)
- Assist with crating, packing, loading, and offloading of equipment
- Support installation activities when required
- Complete daily job cards and production documentation
- Follow strict Health, Safety, and Quality procedures
