Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Saw Operator with experience in a steel or metal processing environment to join a high-performance production team.
Role Purpose
To accurately and safely cut steel materials to specified dimensions while minimising waste, ensuring traceability, and maintaining strict safety and quality standards within a fast-paced steel warehouse environment.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- 3+ years experience in medium to heavy industry (steel/metal fabrication preferred)
- Experience operating band saw or similar industrial cutting equipment
- Ability to read and interpret job cards and technical measurements
- Strong understanding of safety standards and PPE compliance
- Physically fit and detail-oriented
- English required (Afrikaans advantageous)
Key Responsibilities
- Operate band saw machines to cut steel accurately within tight tolerances
- Ensure proper marking, measuring, weighing, and recording of all cut materials
- Maintain safety compliance and clean working conditions at all times
- Perform basic machine checks, cleaning, and blade monitoring
- Complete job cards and maintain traceability records accurately
- Support workflow efficiency through teamwork and communication
