Pretoria East: Water infrastructure optimisation engineer posted by Network Finance
This role offers the opportunity to work on the optimisation of water distribution networks, pump stations, reservoirs, pipelines, treatment facilities, and digital water systems, helping clients reduce operational costs, improve performance, and enhance service delivery through engineering excellence and smart technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and optimise the performance of water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Conduct hydraulic modelling of bulk water supply and reticulation networks.
- Evaluate and optimise pump stations, reservoirs, pressure management systems, and pipeline networks.
- Perform water balance analyses, energy assessments, and asset performance evaluations.
- Identify opportunities to reduce non-revenue water, water losses, and energy consumption.
- Develop infrastructure optimisation strategies for existing and future water systems.
- Support the planning, design, upgrading, and rehabilitation of water infrastructure.
- Prepare feasibility studies, technical reports, design calculations, specifications, and tender documentation.
- Conduct site inspections, commissioning support, and performance assessments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, municipalities, contractors, and clients.
- Utilise digital engineering tools, SCADA data, and operational analytics to improve system performance.
- Ensure compliance with applicable South African standards, municipal requirements, and engineering best practices.
Minimum Requirements
- BEng/BSc in Civil, Mechanical, Process, Chemical, or Water Engineering.
- 5+ years’ experience in water infrastructure, water treatment, hydraulic engineering, or optimisation projects.
- Experience with municipal, industrial, mining, or bulk water infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of water distribution systems, pipelines, reservoirs, pump stations, and treatment facilities.
- Experience performing hydraulic modelling and network analysis using software such as EPANET, WaterGEMS, InfoWater, InfoWorks WS Pro, or similar platforms is highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of water treatment processes and operational optimisation is advantageous.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
