Privacy Policy and POPIA Notice

Who is responsible
JVR Jobs, operating at jvrjobs.co.za, determines why and how personal information is processed for this platform. Privacy enquiries and requests may be sent to jvrsoftware@gmail.com. Formal operator and Information Officer details will be added to the Legal and Contact Information page once confirmed by the owner.
Information we process
Depending on use, we process account and contact details; employer and worker profiles; CVs, qualifications, skills and work history; job listings; applications; messages, meetings and notifications; saved jobs; uploaded evidence and reports; consent and acknowledgement records; device, browser, IP, security and activity logs; cookie choices; and email or push subscription information. Do not upload identity numbers, banking credentials, medical information or other sensitive information unless specifically required and lawfully requested.
Purposes and lawful grounds
We process information to create accounts, publish listings, match and connect users, deliver applications and messages, operate notifications, prevent fraud, investigate reports, enforce platform rules, secure and improve the service, comply with law and communicate about the service. Processing is based on consent where required, performance of the service requested, legal obligations, and legitimate interests that do not unjustifiably override user rights.
Who receives information
Profile and application information is shared with the intended marketplace participants according to the feature used. We may use hosting, email, security, analytics, cookie-consent, push-notification and technical service providers acting under appropriate instructions. Information may be disclosed where required by law, to protect users or the platform, or during a lawful business transfer. JVR Jobs does not sell CVs or personal information.
International processing
Some operators or infrastructure may process information outside South Africa. We will use service providers and safeguards intended to provide protection consistent with POPIA before making cross-border transfers.
Retention
Information is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the stated purpose, legal obligations, security, fraud prevention and the establishment or defence of claims. Account deletion does not necessarily remove records that must be retained for lawful reporting, moderation, backups or disputes. Retention periods must be documented in the internal retention schedule.
Security and compromises
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, access controls, protected CV delivery, logging, backups and moderation controls. No online service is risk free. Where there are reasonable grounds to believe personal information was accessed or acquired by an unauthorised person, JVR will investigate and notify the Information Regulator and affected data subjects as required by POPIA.
Your rights
You may request confirmation of processing, access to your information, correction or deletion where legally available, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent, or details of recipients. You may complain to the Information Regulator. Requests require sufficient information to verify identity and locate the records.
Direct marketing and notifications
Operational notices about applications, messages, meetings, security and accounts are part of the requested service. Marketing email, messages, telephone communications, cookies and push notifications require a lawful basis and an effective opt-out. JVR will not treat a service notification subscription as blanket marketing consent.
Cookies and advertising
Necessary cookies support login, security and preferences. Optional analytics or advertising technologies should operate according to the choices provided by the cookie banner. Users may withdraw optional consent through the available cookie controls or browser settings.
Children
The Virtual Work marketplace is not intended for children who cannot lawfully enter the relevant arrangements. Do not create a marketplace account for a child or submit a child’s personal information without lawful authority.
