About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Intermediate Accountant to join our clients finance team. This role is ideal for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong expertise in bank reconciliations, multi-currency transactions, VAT compliance, and payment processing, and is eager to take on a larger share of responsibility within a collaborative finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform bank reconciliations across multiple local and international accounts.
- Manage and reconcile multi-currency transactions and foreign exchange adjustments.
- Load and process bank payments, ensuring validity, supporting documentation, and necessary approvals.
- Conduct monthly VAT reconciliations and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes efficiently.
- Ensure timely and accurate payments while maintaining financial integrity.
- Liaise with internal departments to ensure proper financial documentation and coding.
- Maintain precision in transaction capturing and record-keeping using accounting systems.
- Complex Supplier Reconciliations
- Assist with audit preparation and financial reporting as required.
Requirements
- 35 years of relevant finance/accounting experience.
- Strong expertise in bank reconciliations, handling multiple accounts, and managing high-value transactions.
- Practical experience in loading and validating payments.
- Solid understanding of multi-currency finance and foreign exchange transactions.
- Proficiency in VAT calculations and complex reconciliations.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-workload environment.
- Familiarity with Xero.
- Bookkeeping/accounting certification is highly advantageous.
- Some audit experience is beneficial.
- Experience in the tourism/travel industry is preferred but not required.
