About the Role
Join our team as an Enrolled Nurse and provide compassionate care to patients in their homes or facilities. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with doctors, NSMs, and physiotherapists to ensure that all tasks are completed appropriately. You will be part of providing basic care, assisting with personal hygiene, administering medications under supervision, documenting patient conditions, and supporting patients with activities of daily living.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide basic care to patients in their homes or facilities, including washing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and support with moving and toileting
- Assist patients with tracheostomies connected to ventilators, elderly patients with dementia, quadriplegic patients with PEG tubes, and palliative patients in end-of-life care
- Monitor vital signs of patients and record changes in their condition
- Manage feeds of a tracheostomy baby using a feeding pump
- Observe change in condition of patients and record in the daily report
- Write reports in good English
Requirements
- Strong understanding of treatment plans set out by other team members (doctor, NSM or physiotherapist)
- Good communication skills with supervisors, colleagues, patients, and family members
- Knowledge of dealing with emergency situations with a patient in their home
- Knowledge of Geriatric Care, Paediatric Care, Dementia Care, Post Stroke Care, Ventilation Care, Catheter care (indwelling, supra pubic, intermittent), and prevention of pressure sores in bedridden patients
Qualifications
- Diploma as a qualified Enrolled Nurse
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
