Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain mechanical equipment, machines, and production line components.
  2. Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and schematics accurately.
  3. Operate precision machinery such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other workshop tools.
  4. Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections on machinery to reduce downtime.
  5. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical faults efficiently.
  6. Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and adhere to OHS Act 85 of 1993 regulations and company safety policies.
  7. Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to optimize workflow and machine performance.
  8. Maintain accurate maintenance logs and report recurring mechanical issues to management.

 
REQUIREMENTS

  1. Grade 12 (mathematics will be an added advantage)
  2. Trade Test Certificate in Fitting & Turning.
  3. Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in the manufacturing or production sector.
  4. Practical experience with mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic CNC machinery (advantageous).
  5. Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications accurately
  6. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  7. Precision and attention to detail in all mechanical work.
  8. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  9. Knowledge of South African safety standards (OHS Act, LOTO procedures).
  10. Good communication skills for reporting and liaising with supervisors and colleagues
