About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Junior Sous Chef to join our team at our well-known establishment within the hospitality industry on the Durbanville Wine Route. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily running of the kitchen, managing menu and function planning, and ensuring exceptional food quality, presentation, and service.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily running of the kitchen
- Manage menu and function planning
- Keep up to date with current food trends and seasonal changes
- Supervise and leadership of a small kitchen team
- Maintain a consistently high standard of food quality, presentation, and service
- Strong control of food costs, weekly stock takes, ordering, cleanliness, and hygiene standards
- Experience in all sections of the kitchen will be an advantage (but not essential)
- Professional culinary training is a prerequisite, or proven in-house training in a similar leadership role with a minimum of 2 years’ in-house experience
Requirements
- Minimum of ±2 years’ experience as a Junior Sous Chef, or a Senior CDP seeking promotion or growth in a similar role (non-negotiable)
- Must be presentable, with excellent communication skills
- A team player with passion for the industry
- Able to work well under pressure, punctual, teachable, and able to lead by example
Qualifications
- Professional culinary training is a prerequisite, or proven in-house training in a similar leadership role with a minimum of 2 years’ in-house experience
Salary & Benefits
- R12 500 maximum salary offered
