About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Chief Financial Officer to lead our team in Pietermaritzburg. As a strategic financial leader, you will provide guidance to the CEO, Board, and senior management, ensuring the financial sustainability and success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic financial leadership and guidance to the CEO, Board, and senior management.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, investments, and statutory reporting.
- Ensure compliance with South African statutory requirements, including SARS, CIPC, NPO/NGO regulations, Companies Act, PFMA (if applicable), and donor compliance standards.
- Manage audits, risk assessments, and internal controls to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Oversee cash flow management, investment strategies, and financial sustainability initiatives.
- Lead the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Develop and maintain relationships with donors, partners, auditors, and financial institutions.
- Support grant management processes, including proposal budgeting and donor reporting.
Requirements
- Grade 12
- CA(SA) or equivalent professional financial qualification.
- Minimum of 6 years as senior financial management experience, ideally within the non-profit sector or a similarly complex environment.
- Strong knowledge of South African financial legislation, tax compliance, and governance practices.
- Experience with donor-funded organisations and grant management.
- Proven experience in financial strategy, risk management, and organisational sustainability.
- High level of integrity, ethical leadership, and mission-driven focus.
- Have strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
- Attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
