About the Role
The IT Support Intern plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of Signa Opportunity’s technology systems. As a key member of our team, you will provide hands-on experience across various IT functions while supporting staff with day-to-day technical needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Responding to user (staff) requests, troubleshooting hardware/software issues.
- Installing, configuring, repairing desktops, laptops, printers, possibly medical devices networks.
- Assisting with network infrastructure: switches, routers, cabling, basic LAN maintenance.
- Supporting server infrastructure, possibly virtual machines, backup systems, monitoring performance.
- Preparing guides or training sessions for hospital staff on IT systems, documenting procedures.
- Supporting hospital-specific applications (e.g., patient management, electronic health records) or general productivity tools.
- Keeping inventory of IT assets, tracking hardware and software licenses.
- Assisting with updating antivirus, performing backups, helping enforce security policies.
- Contributing to special IT projects — for example, deployment of new systems, infrastructure upgrades, or digital transformation projects.
- Generating reports on system performance, incidents, and resource usage; helping with audits.
Requirements
- South African Unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34.
- Must not have participated in the YES programme before.
- Matric.
- Completed qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Networking / Systems Support, Or a related IT field.
