About the Role
Our client, a specialist in the built environment sector, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join their team. As a key member of the design and operations team, you will be responsible for designing, planning, installing, operating, and maintaining mechanical systems within buildings and infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity for a professionally registered Mechanical Engineer with strong technical skills to make a meaningful contribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Design HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) for commercial, residential, and industrial buildings.
- Develop designs for fire protection systems (sprinklers, hydrants, smoke extraction).
- Produce plumbing and drainage designs (hot water, cold water, sewer, stormwater).
- Ensure designs comply with relevant building codes, SANS standards, and local regulatory requirements.
- Conduct technical analysis and calculations to support design decisions.
- Monitor construction progress and ensure quality control measures are in place.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the built environment sector.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and building physics.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, BIM, and mechanical simulation tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Qualifications
- Professionally registered with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa).
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
