About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to join our prestigious fine dining Bistro in Cape Town City Centre. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for driving culinary excellence, leading by example, and ensuring that every dish that leaves our kitchen meets our high standards. With a proven track record in high-level culinary roles, we are looking for someone who is passionate about innovation, creativity, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and update the menu to reflect seasonal ingredients and culinary trends while maintaining the restaurant’s signature style and standards.
  • Lead, manage, and train a team of chefs and kitchen staff, ensuring all roles are performed efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Ensure that all dishes are prepared and presented according to our restaurant’s standards and quality expectations.
  • Oversee ordering, stock management, and inventory control to ensure efficient use of resources and maintain food cost control within budget.
  • Ensure adherence to all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.

Requirements

  • Extensive Fine Dining Experience
  • Culinary Qualifications: Professional culinary training from a recognized institution.
  • Leadership and Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead a team, manage kitchen staff, and maintain a positive working environment under pressure.
  • Creativity and Passion for Innovation: Strong culinary creativity with the ability to create unique, sophisticated dishes that push boundaries while maintaining exceptional taste and presentation.
  • Knowledge of Food Trends and Techniques: Expertise in current fine dining trends, advanced cooking techniques, and modern kitchen equipment.
