About the Role
Unspecified is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Engineer to join their team in Pretoria. As a key member of the IT department, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining UNIX and Solaris operating systems, ensuring stability and availability. You will also be responsible for connecting and configuring Connect:Direct (NDM) for secure and reliable file transfer operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain UNIX and Solaris operating systems, ensuring stability and availability.
- Apply regular system updates and patches to maintain security and compliance.
- Monitor system performance and proactively troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Administer and configure Connect:Direct (NDM) for secure and reliable file transfer operations.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for scheduled and on-demand file transfers.
Requirements
- 5-10 years of hands-on experience in system engineering, specifically with UNIX and Solaris environments
- Proficiency in UNIX and Solaris systems administration
- Understanding of networking fundamentals and security protocols
- Scripting skills (Shell and Perl) for automation tasks
- Familiarity with backup and recovery solutions
