About the Role
Overture Rede is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our team in Pretoria, Africa. As a Senior DBA, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining enterprise database environments, ensuring performance, availability, and data security. With 35 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator, we are looking for a skilled professional who can provide expertise in Microsoft database technologies and relevant certifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, administer, and support database systems primarily using Microsoft SQL Server.
- Monitor database performance, capacity, and availability; perform tuning and optimization.
- Implement backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions (Always On, clustering, replication).
- Ensure database security, access controls, and compliance with organizational policies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database-related issues.
- Support database upgrades, patching, and migrations.
- Work closely with application and infrastructure teams to support database-driven systems.
- Maintain documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
Requirements
- 35 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator.
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration.
- Knowledge of performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
- Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and data security practices.
- Relevant certification(s) such as:
- Microsoft Certified: Database Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
- Or similar recognized database certifications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
Salary & Benefits
$120,000 per annum (tax inclusive), plus comprehensive benefits package.
