About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Qualified Carpenter to join our team in South Africa. As a key member of our construction environment, you will be responsible for interpreting and working from technical drawings, plans, and specifications. With 3-5 years’ experience in formwork, roofing, and finishing carpentry, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of our projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, plans, and specifications
- Construct, install, and repair wooden structures and fixtures, including roof trusses and frameworks, doors, windows, and frames, flooring, decking, and staircases
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble materials accurately
- Install fixtures and fittings according to building regulations
- Ensure work meets quality, safety, and compliance standards
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery safely
- Work closely with foremen, site supervisors, and other trades on site
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Identify and report material shortages or defects
- Adhere to project timelines and productivity targets
Requirements
- Qualified Carpenter with a recognised Trade Test Certificate
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a construction environment
- Proven experience in formwork, roofing, and finishing carpentry
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
- Sound knowledge of building regulations and safety standards
- Physically fit and able to work on construction sites
- Valid driver’s licence (advantageous)
- Own basic carpentry tools (advantageous)
Qualifications
- Matric certificate (or equivalent)
- Recognised Trade Test Certificate
