Job Description

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) essential.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 10-12 years’ experience in opencast mining, with at least 5 years in a blasting supervisory or management role.
  • Blasting Certificate for Surface Mines
  • Strong understanding of SHEQ regulations and compliance.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and production reporting systems.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • The successful candidate will be required to pass a medical assessment.

GENERAL DUTIES:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee blasting plans aligned with production targets and mine design.
  • Manage and supervise all blasting personnel, including training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and legal requirements regarding explosives handling and blasting operations.
  • Monitor and optimize blast performance, including fragmentation analysis and vibration monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate records of explosives usage, blast patterns, and associated documentation for audits and regulatory purposes.
  • Control budgets and ensure cost-effective resource utilization.
  • Represent the company in site meetings and report progress against agreed targets.
  • Ensure client requirements are met within contractual obligations.
