Job Description

Our restaurant situated just outside Wellington requires an experienced Chef. Main focus: Customer satisfaction and Kitchen Management Skills; experience and competencies required: Client service orientated, with pleasant and efficient manner Well-spoken and able to communicate verbally and in writing English essential. Ability to work as part of a team bearing in mind the large focus of the business Ability to work under pressure and take personal responsibility for results Hospitality background with strong grounding in food and beverage Key performance areas Staff Set up rosters Oversee kitchen staff, cleaners and maintenance staff Monitor hygiene standards and general appearance of the kitchen, restaurant incl. outdoors, and stores Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times of person and staff Attend meetings Lead the kitchen team by attracting, recruiting, training and appraising personnel. Follow proper termination procedures. Stock; costing and accounting Oversee daily stock take of kitchen and chemicals Collate weekly stock takes Placement of kitchen, bar, amenities and chemicals orders Oversee receipt of and check that food and beverage orders are correct and properly stored Cost and design all menus Ensure all POS recipes are correct. Ensure that all orders, delivery notes and invoices are accurately and timeously captured Strive to minimise wastage, reduce food costs and maximise margin Weekly report backs to directors regarding sales results and productivity. Forecast; plan and manage all F&B orders, staff and finances. Work to budget Front of house Respond promptly to social media and other reviews Place and manage booking through reservation system Follow closing and opening procedures Handle and keep records of all functions bookings Participate as Manager on duty as shifts require Participate and input towards F&B marketing activities Deliver excellent guest experience. Functions and banqueting Prepare client quotes based on menu costing Manage Kitchen assistants roster and performance Arrange pay for waitrons/kitchen assistants Limit wastage and curtail wasted costs Ensure that food is well presented incl. buffet In addition: You may be required to perform all reasonable duties assigned to you or related to the proper completion of your job tasks. During a work colleagues leave of absence from the company or during month end, peak busy periods or stock takes, you may be required to perform other job tasks upon reasonable request from your manager. The nature of our business is dynamic and competitive in nature, and requires a pro-active approach to properly manage and administer the job effectively. Based in Wellington the successful candidate must live nearby and have reliable transport. Preference will be given to people living in Wellington or close by.
