Position Overview:
A Printer and Copier Technician, also known as a Service Technician or Field Technician, is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing printers, copiers, and related office equipment/furniture. They ensure that these devices are functioning properly, provide technical support to end-users, and ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Setup:
o Install and configure printers, copiers, and other office equipment at customer sites.
o Set up network connectivity, drivers, and software to enable proper functionality.
o Conduct tests and ensure devices are functioning correctly.
o Assembling and setup of office furniture in the workshop and at customers.
Maintenance and Repair:
o Perform routine maintenance tasks on printers and copiers, such as cleaning, lubrication, and component replacements.
o Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software issues to identify the root cause of problems.
o Repair or replace faulty components, such as print heads, rollers, circuit boards, or sensors.
o Upgrade firmware and software to enhance device performance and security.
o Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
Customer Support:
o Respond to service calls and provide technical support to customers in person or via phone, email, or remote assistance tools.
o Analyse and resolve customer-reported issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to their operations.
o Educate customers on device operation, maintenance best practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
Quality Assurance:
o Test repaired or serviced devices to verify proper functionality before returning them to customers.
o Perform quality checks to ensure print and copy output meets established standards.
o Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and advancements in printer and copier systems.
Inventory and Documentation:
o Maintain an inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies needed for repairs and maintenance.
o Order replacement parts and supplies as necessary, ensuring timely availability.
o Keep detailed records of service requests, repairs performed, and customer interactions.
