Job Description

Role Purpose The successful candidate will act as the day-to-day liaison between insurers and designated commercial clients, delivering high-quality service and identifying opportunities for growth through cross-selling. The role demands strong technical underwriting knowledge, excellent client relationship skills, and the ability to manage renewals and risk exposure effectively. Key Responsibilities Underwriting & Client Servicing Provide prompt and professional service to clients in relation to their commercial insurance needs. Address coverage queries, conduct policy checks, and manage endorsements. Analyse contracts and exposures, ensuring clients are adequately protected. Support renewal processes in collaboration with Account Executives and marketing teams. Bind policies and handle all documentation in line with company standards. Client Relationship Management Develop and maintain positive client relationships through regular communication. Educate clients on insurance coverage, exclusions, and risk exposures. Assist clients with appropriate coverage changes and risk mitigation strategies. Resolve queries related to claims or service issues efficiently and courteously. Identify opportunities for cross-selling within the existing portfolio. Renewal & Compliance Processes Assist with marketing, negotiation, and analysis of alternative renewal options. Handle renewals independently where applicable, according to internal procedures. Ensure compliance with all FSCA and company requirements. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all client interactions and financial transactions. General Administration Produce insurance certificates, policies, and other relevant documentation in a timely manner. Support the preparation of client insurance portfolios. Follow up on underwriting survey requirements and manage diary actions accordingly. Monitor client satisfaction and take appropriate steps to address concerns. Candidate Profile Minimum Qualifications: Matric / Senior Certificate RE5 Certification (Essential) NQF Level 5 Insurance Qualification (120 credits, FSCA-recognised) Essential Class of Business: Short Term Personal Lines Essential Short Term Commercial Lines Essential Experience & Competencies: Minimum of 2 years experience in commercial lines underwriting Proven track record of product-specific training (mandatory) Demonstrated compliance with CPD requirements (current cycle) FSCA registered Representative (no debarments or pending cases) Strong communication skills and client service orientation Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and online platforms Bilingual proficiency is an advantage This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced commercial underwriter to grow within a stable and respected organisation.
