Must have Managerial experience
Articles plus 5 years post articles relevant experience in accounting with preference to a financial service institution preferably a CA(SA).
Minimum of five (5) years Public Sector Experience
Strong GRAP knowledge
IFRS knowledge
Transition from IFRS to GRAP
Accurate GRAP Annual Financial Statements:
- Actively review the draft AFS as they are being prepared to ensure adequate supporting documents are maintained,
- Assist the team in reviewing draft AFS at a detailed level, ensuring all notes tie to lead schedules.
- Ensure the mapping of the GL accounts aligns with the GRAP Standards.
- Implement transition principles on the AFS and ensure accuracy of restatement notes.
- Ensure completeness of accounting policies disclosed on the AFS
- Address GRAP disclosure findings arising from the technical review and review of draft AFS,
Preparation for year-end:
- Review the accounting records in preparation for year-end audit at project level (+- 100 Projects for Review).
- Manage the accrual and provision process to ensure that no accruals and provisions are missed at year end.
- Ensure completeness
External Audit Requests:
- Quality check adequacy and quality of RFI submissions to the AG on SharePoint,
- Address RFIs from external auditors relating to AFS preparation
Contract Review Project ((+- 100 Projects for Review):
- Using latest contract register, review all contracts with focus on terms and conditions that may have an impact on financial reporting.
- Ensure current accounting treatment from the above terms and conditions aligns with GRAP accounting standards
- Hold weekly update meetings to provide status update to Line Manager.
- Provide input into the change of contracting processes to ensure involvement of finance personnel before contracts are concluded
