About the Role

Route Management is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Accountant to join our team in Bloemfontein. As an Accountant, you will be responsible for handling all accounting data, preparing budgets, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. You will also be required to perform various tasks related to accounts payable, cashbook management, and statutory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out all functions and duties as outlined in the job description
• Handle, prepare, compute, manage, research, and analyse accounting data to provide quantitative information on performance, financial position, solvency, liquidity, and cash flows of our business
• Ensure accurate and effective yearly budget is done by anticipating income and expenditure
• Check on depot handling to ensure invoices are done timeously and correctly, scrutinize and approve all job packs following internal procedure
• Analyse trial balance weekly to ensure expenditure is authorised and within budget, make necessary corrections
• Investigate open sales orders and manuals to determine reason for discrepancies
• Make sure all credit notes are done and confirm with relevant documentation
• Ensure labour posting is done daily
• Ensure order numbers are for all open jobs at workshops on WIP valuation report
• Check that all completed jobs are invoiced as soon as it is completed
• Ensure stock takes take place on scheduled date and correct procedure is followed
• Ensure all stores function effectively by ensuring correct procedures is followed when receiving and issuing stock
• Investigate store variances and take up with responsible employee
• Ensure all stores have minimum and maximum stock level and manage accordingly
• Investigate slow moving stock to write off, move or return
• Implement systems, policies, and procedures and provide independent, objective, and constructive view in relation to primary focus area
• Engage in continuous knowledge development in relation to sector’s rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques, and performance standards

Requirements

• Completed Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Completed SAICA / SAIPA Articles
• Excellent computer knowledge (Excel, Word, and related financial software)
• Drivers license and own vehicle
• Must be willing to travel
• Good communication skills and fully bilingual
• Ability to work under pressure
• Accuracy and always on point
• Highly committed and always willing to go an extra mile when required
• Ability to solve problems and queries that may occur
