About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Exchange Control Consultant to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. As a regulatory authority, you will ensure that all client-related foreign exchange transactions comply with South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Exchange Control regulations. You will act as the internal and external subject-matter expert on Exchange Control, providing regulatory guidance, facilitating SARB applications, training teams, and strengthening the continuity and effectiveness of the Exchange Control function through documentation and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and stay up to date with SARB Exchange Control rulings, circulars, and bank interpretations
- Interpret regulatory changes and communicate updates clearly to relevant internal teams
- Review foreign exchange transactions to ensure compliance with Exchange Control regulations
- Provide accurate, practical Exchange Control guidance to clients and internal stakeholders
- Manage complex or non-standard Exchange Control queries with a solution-oriented approach
- Attend client meetings where Exchange Control expertise is required
Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of SARB Exchange Control regulations and application processes
- High attention to detail with a strong commitment to compliance and accuracy
- Proven ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them pragmatically
- Process-driven mindset with experience documenting SOPs and standardising workflows
- Strong problem-solving skills with a solutions-focused approach
Qualifications
- Relevant finance, legal, or business qualification would be advantageous
