About the Role
We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our Residential Care Facility in Cape Town City Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily operations, ensuring the highest standards of care, safety, and well-being for our residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strong and supportive leadership to the organisation and staff, holistically promoting a rights-informed, person-centered approach to provide quality care for residents
- Manage a fundraising team tasked with raising at least 50% of the organisation’s turnover
- Oversee the recruitment, training, support and ongoing development of administrative staff, healthcare professionals and auxiliary carers
- Ensure compliance with all DoH, DSD and other relevant regulatory and organisational policies and procedures
- Oversee the development and implementation of care plans tailored to individual needs
- Manage budgets and resources efficiently
- Facilitate continuous improvement in care quality
- Build and maintain collaborative and consultative relationships with residents’ families, local authorities, volunteers, the local and wider community, intersectoral partners and funders
- Work co-operatively with an involved board and report regularly to the Executive Committee
- Oversee Human Resources management, in cooperation with relevant staff and, when necessary, a consultant
Requirements
- Proven experience managing a residential or care facility
- Previous experience working with people who have intellectual disability (advantageous)
- Relevant qualifications in Health & Social Care or equivalent
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Commitment to providing and advocating for person-centred care and human rights
- Thorough understanding of current South African legislation, safeguarding, and best practice standards and principles
