Cape Town City Centre: Painter/Handyman

The Fitters department requires a committed, hardworking and reliable Painter/Handyman to join their team. The Painter/Handyman will be responsible for the following tasks, amongst others: Maintaining building structures and upkeep of the aesthetics thereof Measuring, cutting and disassembling or assembling various components Various maintenance and new installations on buildings, workshops and office spaces Repairing, maintaining and renovating different structures, tools, equipment and appliances throughout the workplace Paint work for various projects, office space, workshops, parking bays and demarcation areas Prepare and erect timber framed partitions, Prepare and fit wall panelling Perform tasks using rough sketches and dimensions Repair equipment or appliances where possible Perform regular inspections in order to identify areas requiring attention Adherence to Health and Safety regulations Demonstrate appropriate knowledge of workshop safety Assisting the Fitters department with various Adhoc duties Assisting various maintenance teams and Artisans with Adhoc tasks as and when required Qualifying Criteria: Grade 12 Valid Code 8 driver’s license Basic knowledge of Health and Safety rules Ability to handle tools i.e. cutting machines Previous experience in the same or similar role advantageous Adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations Qualifying Attributes Hard-working and self-motivated Prepared to work overtime and weekends when required Physically fit (Strength to handle materials, tools and machines) Sober habits Able to work in a team as well as independently Honest and reliable Must be willing and eager to learn Ability to multi-task and manage a demanding workload in a pressurised environment Physically mobile and energetic Ability to follow rules Be organised and keep their work area neat and tidy Other Information: Job title: Painter/Handyman Job type: Permanent position Benefits include · Provident fund · Life cover at 4x annual salary · Funeral cover · 15 x paid leave days per annum · Long service leave after five years of employment Standard hours 07h30–17h00: Monday – Thursday 07h30–16h00: Friday May be required to work overtime as per operational requirements We regret that it is not possible to contact all unsuccessful applicants.
