About the Role
The Production Manager is a critical role in overseeing the manufacturing process of shipping vessels, ensuring efficient production, quality standards are met, and resources are utilized effectively. With expertise in design, construction, and maintenance of vessels, this individual will lead the production team to achieve exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and organize production schedules
- Create production plans, set production targets, and develop schedules to ensure smooth operations
- Coordinate with departments such as procurement, inventory, and maintenance to align production requirements
- Manage resources like raw materials, equipment, labor, and machinery efficiently
- Monitor production processes, ensuring they operate smoothly and efficiently
- Implement quality control measures to maintain product quality
- Supervise and lead production teams, including operators, technicians, and supervisors
- Analyze data, identify bottlenecks, and implement changes to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve overall efficiency
- Enforce safety protocols, promote a culture of safety among employees, and comply with health and safety regulations
Requirements
- Degree/Diploma in Project Management or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in marine manufacturing (advantageous)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Afrikaans (French an advantage)
- Strong organizational, analytical, leadership, and communication skills
- Personal Attributes: Team player, discretion, and professional integrity
