About the Role
The Production Manager is a critical role in overseeing and managing the manufacturing or production process within our marine manufacturing company. With expertise in design, construction, and maintenance of vessels, you will be responsible for ensuring that shipping/vessel products are produced efficiently, on time, and within budget while maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and organize production schedules to ensure smooth operations.
- Coordinate with different departments, such as procurement, inventory, and maintenance, to align production requirements.
- Manage resources, including raw materials, equipment, labor, and machinery, to optimize production demands and minimize waste.
- Monitor production processes, ensuring they operate smoothly and efficiently.
- Implement quality control measures to maintain product quality, working closely with the quality assurance team to establish and enforce quality standards.
- Supervise and lead production teams, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure effective employee performance.
- Strive for continuous improvement in production processes, analyzing data to identify bottlenecks and implement changes to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve overall efficiency.
Requirements
- Degree/Diploma in Project Management or Mechanical engineering
- Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in marine manufacturing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Afrikaans (French an advantage)
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications in project management or mechanical engineering
