Cape Town City Centre: Qualified Hydraulic Fitter

Job description: The Engineering Department currently has a vacancy for an attentive to detail, self-motivated and dedicated individual to join their team in the Fitters department in the Hydraulics section. The Duties and responsibilities will include: Conducting mechanical inspections on all production machinery when required Compliance and adherence to the Company in-house maintenance program and procedures Responsible for conducting routine planned and preventative maintenance Hydraulic systems (leaks repairs, Filter change outs) Conveyor belts, drives, pulleys and replacement of rollers Lubrication tasks V-belts replacements General housekeeping Attend breakdowns when required on all Production machinery Fault finding on hydraulic systems Assembly and pressure testing of hydraulic cylinders Servicing of various hydraulic components Provide coaching to semi-skilled staff Adhering to the regulations as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act Qualifying Criteria: Qualified Fitter Artisan (Red Seal certification) Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent Minimum 5 years’ experience in a heavy industry or similar environment Must be physical fit and able to work at heights and in confined spaces Strong Hydraulic background will be an advantage Qualifying Attributes: Must be able to work with minimum supervision Basic computer proficiency Enjoy practical and manual work & be able to work in a pressurized environment Ability to work independently as well as in a team Self-motivated and results orientated Good communication skills Must have sober habits Attention to detail Willingness to work overtime when required Must be a team player Sound understanding of an array of tools and technical equipment Job title: Qualified Hydraulic Fitter Reporting to: Hydraulic Supervisor & Fitters Manager Job type: Permanent position Benefits include · Provident fund · Life cover · Funeral cover · 15 x paid leave days per annum · Long service leave after five years of employment Standard hours 07h30–17h00: Monday – Thursday 07h30–16h00: Friday May be required to work overtime as per operational requirements We regret that it is not possible to contact all unsuccessful applicants.
