BOILERSHOP TEAM LEADER SA STEELWORKS – CAPE TOWN Company profile: SA Metal Group is South Africa’s oldest and largest metal recycling company. The Group purchases and processes all forms of ferrous metals (steel and others) and non-ferrous metals (aluminium, copper and others) from industrial enterprises, scrap metal dealers and private individuals. Our processing facilities are located in and around Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria. Job description: The Boilershop department currently has a vacancy for a hardworking, reliable individual to join their team as a Boilermaker Team Leader . Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: Coordinate day-to-day activities and the flow of tasks and responsibilities Drive C-Works maintenance system and ensure workshops utilization targets are met consistently Coordinate and monitor quality and efficiency of work processes and inter-departmental work flow, report any issues or possible improvements to Maintenance Manager Conduct spot checks on work progress and ensure quality control measures are implemented Attend, oversee and assist with repairs and maintenance of existing components Assist the Maintenance Manager with coordinating repairs and maintenance tasks Assist the Maintenance Manager to ensure all team members comply with the safe working procedures Generate job cards as needed and manage the distribution thereof to the various teams Abide by the regulations as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act Provide daily feedback on work status to the Maintenance manager Support the Maintenance manager in ensuring compliance to timekeeping, productive output, discipline and work programs Any other tasks including administrative functions such as completing timesheets, filing, reports as agreed with the Maintenance Manager, suited to this level of responsibility Qualifying Criteria Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent Qualified Boilermaker/Welding Red Seal Trade Test certificate Valid driver’s license and Own reliable transport Experience in a similar role Minimum of 5 years relevant working experience in a coordinating or similar role Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Qualified Boilermaker/Welder Must be fully Computer literate (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook) Must have Strong proven administrative skills Experience working with an Electronic Maintenance system Knowledgeable on the Occupational Health & Safety Act Sound communication skills (understand, read and write English) Must be prepared to work overtime when required Qualifying Attributes: Hands on practical approach to the job Hard working and self-motivated Good interpersonal skills Time management and organizational skills Display a professional work approach Result-driven Logical and detail orientated Excellent standards in execution Commitment to a strong business ethic and integrity Other Information: Job title: Boilershop Team Leader Reporting to: Engineering Maintenance Manager Job type: Permanent position Benefits include · Provident fund · Life cover at 4x annual salary · Funeral cover · 15 x paid leave days per annum · Long service leave after five years of employment Standard hours 07h30–17h00: Monday – Thursday 07h30–16h00: Friday May be required to work overtime as per operational requirements
